I have recently been watching The Great Interior Design Challenge which has been on BBC 2. I have used it for inspiration for how I am going to plan my project out. I have been gathering ideas such as making a mood board in the idea of a collage and collect samples of colours that would fit with the room. The start of the show presents the starting room and an idea in which they want the room to include.

Questionnaire for Client
Before writing a questionnaire myself, I researched what other interior designers would have used to answer their questions on. I found a website, http://smarthouseidea.com/new-client-questionnaire-studio-of-interior-design.htm#, which presented a range of different questions that explained what to include and what not to. From that research I continued out my own questionnaire with questions that shall help me do my further research into what the client will like.

Research for Planning
First of all I have started off researching other ways in which people plan out how they design their rooms. First of all I typed into good 'How to plan Interior Design', the first search came up with http://www.homestyler.com which is a website which allows you to create room plans and floor plans of rooms.
The website could become useful for when I want to make a floor plan of the old room and the new room and then the arrangement from old to new of furniture.
http://www.roomsketcher.com could also be a website that could be used to create virtual room plans which are 3D or 2D.
I then researched 'How to set up an Interior Design Project, the first website was http://www.slideshare.net/jmknudsen/12-interior-design-secerts-slide-share-34684930 which contained facts about what you should think of before starting and things you should consider. It came up with questions such as 'What is the design influence?' and 'What's the Style?'. It then informed you as to what you should start with first which is a wish list of the clients choice which then leads to setting a budget for the things wanted. Taking photos before any progress has been made should be done and then a inventory of each item found in the room. A room plan should also be made of the room with correct dimensions and measurements. A specification sheet should be made with priorities and luxuries.
I then looked at http://carlaaston.com/designed/how-to-begin-an-interior-design-project-programming. This website contained a lot of information for planning as it contained questions like 'What look or feel do you want to create? What activities must happen in this space? Who uses this space and what needs do these individuals have? What colour do you love most, and how would you like it reflected in this space?'. These questions would be goof for the asking the client as they get you to understand what they like and how they use the room.
From the websites I am going to start off by writing a plan of what I need to do and then write questions that I shall ask the client to find out what their ideal room would be.
Introduction
For my extended project I have decided to do Interior Design. I have an interest in the subject and would like to continue it at Uni. On this blog I shall reference everything I have done such as meetings, research online and research in shops or magazines.
